- Chandra Shekhar was popularly known as Azad.He was just 15 when first caught by the British police.Azad was faced to 15 whiplashes as his first punishment after this incident that Chandra Shekhar got the title of Azad and came to be known as Chandra Shekhar Azad.
- His mother wished him to study & become a Sanskrit scholar.
- He Joined Gandhiji's Non-Cooperation movement when he was 15 years old
- He remained a terror for the British Government as long as he was alive.
- When he was jailed infront of the magistrate he bravely told his name as Azad, Father's name as Swatantrata & Address as Jail.
- He was the chief leader of Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA).
- He involved in the Kakori Train robbery in 1925.
- He killed sauders at lahore as the revenge against the death of Lala Lajpath Rai.
- Azad promised that the police will never catch him alive.
- Bhagat Singh joined Azad to fight the British after the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.
